Sunshine

I see you in every rainbow, illuminating the sky on the greyest of days.

You make them so much brighter, a tiny improvement on the darkness you caused.

The world got darker when you decided to leave.

You gave up, like they wanted you to. You left us behind, without a warning.

In between so many mindless lies and switching sides, you were always on mine.

We’re crying in the waiting room, as you’re dying in someone else’s bed.

We left that night, but it never got brighter. Perpetual darkness, and winter and regret

You’re the rainbow in everyone’s sky. But, the skies are only dark because you left.

You paint us a rainbow, but the sunshine has died – because you died in sunshine
